About

Buddhika Gamage

Software Engineer at Velaris · Kandy, Sri Lanka

Full-stack software engineer building cloud-native, multi-tenant SaaS with React, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and AWS. I own features end to end, from architecture and data model to release, and I care most about performance, maintainable design and putting AI to work in real engineering workflows.

This site is where I write about the ideas underneath that work: causality and clocks, CRDTs, consensus, multi-tenancy and the economics of AI agents. The goal of every piece is the same: explain how something actually works, well enough that you could build it.

Selected impact

Initial load time

4.1s → 2.6s

React performance overhaul: code splitting, rendering fixes and leaner data fetching cut the JS bundle by 30%.

Lower BI licensing spend

~30%

Designed and built Dashboard 360, an in-product analytics platform with configurable interactive visualizations.

More production releases

~200%

Rolled out AI-assisted development with custom context-aware skills for Claude Code, Copilot and Gemini.

Platform availability

99.9%

Led incident response and release ownership for business-critical services.

Selected work

01

Velaris Canvas

A collaborative React and Node.js workspace for account plans, QBRs and success plans, with live charts, embedded tasks and revocable magic-link sharing for external sign-off. It replaced a mix of Google Docs and Confluence as the system of record for customer-facing planning.

02

AI Copilot document agent

Document execution tools that turned the Velaris Copilot from a text generator into an agent that edits deterministically, restructures content, reasons across documents and collaborates live, with each document acting as an isolated workspace for people and agents.

03

Editor platform migration

Replaced commercial TinyMCE with the open-source BlockNote block editor, raising feature adoption and removing about $3K a year in licensing, and moved the core app from React 17 / Ant Design 4 to React 18 / Ant Design 5.
